TrustSniffer Browser Extension: Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 28, 2026 (updated for the API key)

In short

The TrustSniffer extension sends TrustSniffer only what you ask it to check, at the moment you ask. It does not collect your browsing history, does not track you across websites, does not sell or share your data, and does not show ads. This policy covers the extension; the TrustSniffer privacy policy covers your account and the website, and applies to anything you do through the extension on your account.

What the extension sends, and when

  • The domain of the page you are on (for example example.com, never the full page address, its path or its content), only when you open the extension, to look up whether TrustSniffer has already published a verdict for that site.
  • That domain again, only if you press Analyze, to run a website analysis on your TrustSniffer account, exactly as if you had entered it on trustsniffer.com.
  • A privacy-stripped copy of the page you are on, only if you press "Analyze this page". This is used only when the site blocks TrustSniffer's own automated check. The copy is cleaned inside your browser, before anything is sent: no cookies, no browser storage, no form entries, no hidden fields, no emails (only the part after the @ is kept), no tokens, card or phone numbers, no query strings, and no inline scripts. Account pages, and any page where you are signed in to that site, are never captured. The site is then analysed exactly like any website check on trustsniffer.com (the same free checks and energy apply) and the report is published there like any other; it notes that the page was read through a visitor's browser. The page copy is deleted from our servers after 30 days.
  • A wallet address, only when you check one, either by typing it into the extension or by selecting it on a page and choosing "Check this wallet with TrustSniffer".
  • Your API key, only when you press "Create my API key" in the extension's settings. TrustSniffer creates the key on your account and shows it to you once; the extension does not store it.
  • Your existing TrustSniffer sign-in. The extension uses the session your browser already holds for trustsniffer.com, so the website's free checks, daily energy allowance and prices apply. The extension never sees, asks for or stores your password.

Everything is sent over HTTPS to trustsniffer.com and to no one else.

Optional features, off until you turn them on

  • Warnings on sites rated Critical Risk. The extension downloads TrustSniffer's public list of Critical Risk domains and compares each page you open with it inside your browser. The sites you visit are not sent to TrustSniffer. Chrome asks for the "tabs" permission when you turn this on, and the extension gives it back when you turn it off.
  • Notifications. The extension checks the public USDT freeze tracker every 15 minutes and notifies you when new confirmed freezes land, and when an analysis you started is ready. No personal data is sent for this.

What is stored on your device

Your two settings, the downloaded Critical Risk list (only if you enabled warnings), the last freeze count (only if you enabled notifications), and the progress and result of an analysis or report you started, which is cleared when you close the browser. Uninstalling the extension removes all of it.

What TrustSniffer keeps

A check you run through the extension is handled like the same check on the website: the analysis, its result and the energy it used are recorded on your account, and our servers keep the standard request logs described in the TrustSniffer privacy policy. Published website reports and wallet verdicts are public pages, as they are on the website.

Limited use

Data the extension handles is used only to provide the checks you ask for. It is not sold, not transferred to third parties, not used for advertising, credit or lending decisions, and not used for any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose. TrustSniffer's use of this data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Your choices

You can use the extension without signing in, within the website's free limits. You can turn either optional feature off at any time in the extension's settings, sign out on trustsniffer.com, delete your account, or uninstall the extension from Chrome.
